The Critics Company is an international multimedia and entertainment company based in Kaduna Nigeria founded in 2015 by a group of teenagers with desire to make a difference in the Nigerian movie scene. They began to make their own sci-fi movies with their smart phones and basic DIY equipment that later caught the eyes of the world in 2019.
The Critics Company continues to produce its own films, prints, visual material and advertising. The agency collaborates with an extensive team of artists, photographers and image producers, providing full creative and innovative services. Their short film Z, bagged 3 awards at the just concluded African Smart Phone Film Festival in Lagos including Best Production Design, Best Nigerian Film and The Grand Jury Prize.
They have also been shortlisted for ‘30 African Films by African Filmmakers’ around the world, to be screened across five cities by the online African Film Festival and nominated for the 2020 Scout Film Festival in April. The Critics Company are the first Nigerians to ever get nominated for a Webby Award.
They recently worked on a collaboration video with the American Punk Rock band, Anti Flag producing the music video – Unbreakable that premiered in Los Angeles, Mexico City, Pittsburgh, Arroyo, Sao Paulo, Lisbon, Moscow, Tokyo, Melbourne and of course Kaduna, their hometown.
