Maryam Gatawa
Maryam Gatawa is a young brilliant Poetess and writer who graduated from Department of Economics from Bayero University, Kano. She lives in Kano, Nigeria and is a passionate lover of the Arts.
Some of her work have been published in the African Writer Magazine, Praxis Magazine, Ink Sweat and Tears, FirstWriter Magazine, 1Dollar Publications,  PIN Quarterly Magazine, Tuck Magazine, Better Than StarBucks, Anthology Of Best New African Poets 2017, Anthology of Arts and Nature of Free poetic Universe 2016, The Arts Muse Fair, Kalahari Review as well as in local papers. 
Her poem “And Tell the Stars” won the Ink Sweat and Tears webxine  poem of the Month in 2018. In the same vein, her poems UNTITLED,  WHO WILL COME FORTH FOR US, CHIBOK GIRLS  won the best poems of the month of August and July and May of 2017 Association of Nigeria Authors, and Bayero University Forum, and Kwandala Foundation in Kano, Nigeria respectively. She organises poetry workshops and readings,also moderates,
and judges poetry contests in Nigeria.
She is currently the Public Relations Officer of Poets In Nigeria Kano Connect Center and was the Welfare Officer of Association of Nigeria Authors, Kano State Branch. She is one of the arrowheads of Poetic Wednesdays, an online literary forum that promotes poetry in Northern Nigeria. She is a member of Northern Writers Forum in Nigeria. She is also a member and Admin of a global online poetry community called Free Poetic Universe. A member of cozy literary Forum called ” For the Love of Poetry.” She is also a member of Board of Trustees of Kungiyar Marubuta Wakokin Hausa In Nigeria.
She edited a poetry anthology called “Songs of Zamfara.” When not writing poetry, she talks to her parrots or plays snooker, watches Netflix, or reads other poets.
