Program Officer Creative Writing Program
A writer with works of fiction featured in Transition Magazine and New Orleans Review and Nonfiction in The Africa Report, Music In Africa, This Is Africa and Enkare Review. He is an awardee of the 2018 Goethe Institute/Sylt Foundation Writing Residency. He has been published in books and anthologies such as Selves: An Afro Anthology of Creative Nonfiction and is also a forthcoming contributor in a book of creative nonfiction to be published by the Goethe Institute Lagos. He was shortlisted for the Kofi Addo Prize for Creative Nonfiction administered by Writivism in 2017 and was among the participants in the Goethe Institute Nigeria-Cameroon Literary Exchange Program. He is interested in the intricacies of languages and works on translations bilingually in Hausa and English. His poem in Hausa translated into English as well as his translation of Laura Kaminski’s Hausa poem into English have appeared in the National Translation Month Issue of 2017. Sada Malumfashi has previously participated in the 2015 Ake Arts and Book Festival Creative Writing Workshop facilitated by Nnedi Okorafor, Taiye Selasi and Helon Habila. He is also a contributor from Northern Nigeria to the Music in Africa Connects project, an initiative aiming to support the music sectors of African countries affected by conflict.
He works as a Program Officer with experience in the field of creative writing, women literacy in developing nations, Preventing/Countering Violent Extremism (P/CVE), Programme and Project Management, Monitoring and Evaluation (M&E) and Programme support. He also possesses excellent media and communications skills in freelance journalism and new/social media.
Sada is a founding member of the Youth Party (YP), a new generation political party where he serves as the Deputy General Secretary Kaduna State Chapter. He also volunteers with the Global Collective Action against Drug-Abuse Initiative (GCAADAI) as the Social Media/Online Engagament Officer, as well as a volunteer to the Kaduna State Traffic and Environmental Law Enforcement Agency (KASTELEA).
